This is what humane technology means in the framing the book has built. It is not a category of product. It is a relationship between technology and the life that produces it. Technologies built within coherent civilizations strengthen coherence. Technologies built within extractive civilizations accelerate extraction. The technologies themselves are downstream of conditions the technology cannot generate.

This is why the book has spent its length on conditions rather than on specifications. The question of what humane technology would be is, finally, the question of what humanity will become.
